The BCom in Business Management affords managerial leaders with understanding of the value of socio-economic transformation in South Africa. The programme focuses on the business management and leadership disciplines and develops knowledge, skills and capabilities required within diverse management and leadership contexts today.
The curriculum incorporates complex interrelationship of business and leadership elements as key contributors to the organisational agility that is required to ensure business sustainability. This organisational agility manifests in a systems thinking framework including management of technology, of innovation, and the management of people.
The foundation of the curriculum is a combination of widely acknowledged business management disciplines, such as general business management, financial accounting, economics and business research, with the option to develop a business leadership focus within a selected area of expertise, i.e. aviation management or creativity management.
The qualification introduces individuals to the core competencies required to identify and leverage business and social opportunities, and establishes practices that will enhance the viability of private as well as social business ventures. The core competencies embrace the current trends in local and global business management, business administration, and leadership principles within private and social business contexts.
Those who attain this qualification will be empowered to participate in the personal, social and economic development on a national level. The qualification allows prospective individuals to excel in their junior and middle management roles within the private and social business sectors.
