The FLOAT Battery of Preference Profiles

Individuals, teams, the job and the organisation are described using the VNI Consultants FLOAT battery of preference profiles, as follows:

The temperament profile provides an understanding of the individual’s affection associated with aspects such as introversion, extroversion, emotional and unemotional, and illuminates the strengths and weaknesses associated with each temperament type.
The learning profile provides an understanding of the individual’s learning preferences associated with aspects such as sensation, watching, reasoning and doing, and enlightens the learning environment largely associated with the individual.
The skills profile provides an understanding of the individual’s competence associated with aspects such as being analytical, structured, empathetic and conceptual.  This profile indicates the supports the prominent thinking constructs of the individual and provides an indications of the skills gap between the individual and the individual’s correlating occupation.
The leadership profile provides an understanding of the individual’s preferences in terms of certain leadership characteristics, such as analytical, structured, empathetic and conceptual.  This profile indicates the prominent thinking constructs the individual engages in response to being lead.
The thinking profile provides an understanding of the individual’s thinking preferences, associated with aspects such as being analytical, structured, empathetic and conceptual.  This profile indicates the prominent thinking constructs and the correlating likelihoods of the individual’s occupational choices.

FLOAT Explained

The VNI FLOAT battery of preference profiles is used in the HR Alignment process of the organisation, as follows:

The Individual : People Alignment

  • Sourcing (HR Talent Management): Recruitment and selection. Internal, external.
  • Placement: Occupational alignment inclusive of aspects such as: discretion, judgement, innovation, technology and creativity.
  • Socialisation (HR Capital Management): This is a continued process to ensure employees are aligned with the requirements of the organisation, i.e.: the individual, the job, the team and the organisation.
  • Performance Management: Assist with the identification of key performance areas, indicators and helping employees with skills development to achieve them.
  • Training and development: The development and delivery of training material/modules aligned to specific roles and with the required national qualifications framework (if required).
  • Coaching and mentoring: Providing guidance to employees through an internationally accredited coaching methodology (based on the “OCEAN” principles).
  • Disciplinary action: A process of discipline without punishment is followed initially, based on the above three elements. In the event of the above three elements not being successful, disciplinary action will follow.

The Job : Work Alignment

  • Analysis: A complete analysis of the current activities and tasks (As-Is) of the job is conducted to understand the intricacies of the job.
  • Complexity: The identification and articulation of job complexities and behaviours such as: discretion, judgement, innovation, technology and creativity, interpersonal and intra-personal relationships and requirements.
  • Design: A complete redesign of the preferred activities and tasks (To-Be) of the job is constructed to create the new complexities of the job. This is inclusive of all structural requirements, process re-engineering and the identification of systems required to perform the job.
  • Profile: The packaging of the specific job results in the job profile based on the VNI Consultants FLOAT battery of preference profiles. This ensures alignment of the individual to the job, which improves the success rate of engaging employees to perform specific tasks.

The Team : Team Alignment

  • Strategy: Assisting the team in drafting and articulating the strategic direction of the organisation and the development of the strategic plan. This process is based on the VNI Consultants FLOAT battery of preference profiles, and includes aspects such as; the vision, mission and values required in the organisation. This ensures alignment of the individual and the job with specific strategic requirements, which improves the success rate of engaging employees to perform specific tasks.
  • Leadership: The leadership styles of the organisation is established within the ambit of the current organisational culture. A new culture is defined. Leaders are assisted with means to embrace the revitalised culture and methods are provided to leaders to engage subordinates in creating a new culture.

The Organisation (Organisational Alignment)

  • Alignment: By using the VNI Consultants FLOAT battery of preference profiles the individual, the job and the team are aligned with the requirements of the respective organisation.
  • Transdisciplinary: The manifestation of this process enhances organisational performance as silos are broken down by the use of information communication technology across disciplines.
  • Wellness: The Organisational Wellness indicator is used to establish the health level in the organisation and is then used to develop the necessary action plans to close the gaps.
  • HR Outsourcing: HR Outsourcing serves are also provided to our clients.
  • Change and Transformation Management: Base in the new requirements of the organisation, the organisation is assisted in finding the necessary to make the change or transformation to the newly developed state.
